Yesterday one of the amazing SW US phenomenon’s crept into OK and TX. A Haboob! It is simply a type of intense dust storm carried on an atmospheric gravity current. Something likely routine in the Dust Bowl days of the 30s. The visible satellite pictures captured it nicely as well as local ground radar.

[9:20 PM 12/2/22] Cold front has entered NE OK via the @okmesonet wind map. North to northwest wind gusts of 40-50mph are possible behind the front! This front will continue to move across E OK & NW AR over the next several hours.
A reminder there may be a super slim shot at seeing some brief light freezing rain/drizzle Saturday night near the I-40 corridor in W/C OK. Would only affect bridges and overpasses if temperatures can get down to 31 degrees.
