After some clouds and a few showers (S half of OK) move through today, we’ve got a pretty nice weekend ahead. Lots of sun but a little windy. Temps in the 70s on Saturday and 70s/80s on Sunday. Next round of potential rain (or t-storms) arrives on the 23rd. At one point the European model suggested snow returning, but quickly changed its mind. It’s bounced between fires and t-storms for W OK the past couple of days. It all depends on the positioning and timing with that system. The one after that will affect the state late Sunday (26th) with the potential for more thunderstorms.
Our severe weather Spring storm season window is officially open. So as we go forward, eventually one of these systems will tap into enough moisture and instability to trigger widespread severe thunderstorms. Also there are no freezes expected through the rest of the month at this time. However, we often see a late one in early April, so keep that in mind.
