Latest forecast update:
Hi-res short-term computer models are now in range of this weekend’s activity. Combined with the trend of the global long range models a few minor changes are in order.
1. During the day Sunday the cold front will arrive into C OK at daybreak and slow/stall just south of the I-44 corridor. Freezing drizzle will develop behind this boundary, mostly focused across the N 1/3 of the state, but should still occur in minor amounts as far south as OKC. So just be careful on area bridges and overpasses.
2. The significant snowfall continues to be centered into Kansas which hasn’t changed, but the amounts that are possible into Oklahoma have. Only a dusting is expected on Monday morning across C/NE OK whereas 1-2 inches will fall into NW OK counties near the KS border. My prior forecast called for a dusting to an inch in C/NE OK with a few inches possible in NNW OK, north of 412. So basically I’m cutting all of these amounts across the north in half, and on the lower end in the south. In other words, don’t expect much in OKC or Tulsa.
Still watching for signs of our next storm system…stay tuned! -AT
