A Freeze and Spring Break Storms
Most of this forecast period will be quiet. We’ll start out with a freeze and end the stretch with a few severe storms.
Monday and Tuesday morning will be the coldest of the week with a freeze or frost for many. Make sure you protect any tender vegetation.
The upper low that never kicked out from last week, preventing any possible snow, will finally move through this week Wednesday night. We should see showers and weak storms as it moves through. The skies will clear by Thursday afternoon. The next wave of upper-level support will arrive late Sunday with a SW flow aloft. We should have a return of dewpoints in the 50s to produce some severe storms. If we can tap into 60s for dewpoints then more severe weather and stronger magnitude will occur.
Rainfall totals with both systems will be decent. As with any of these model projections, it is a smoothed average output, but training of severe storms can produce much more.
Temperatures over the coming days are quite nice for Spring Break around here.
One final note is to put the Severe Weather Awareness Expo back on your calendar for Tulsa April 6th at Woodland Hills Mall. I’ll be there from 11-3 pm. There will be other weather gurus from TV and the NWS along with things for the kiddos. So be sure to drop by and say hi! -AT
