Peak of the Severe Weather Season with Some Storms

This week we head into the peak of our severe weather season. Each week after this one, the probability gets a little lower until mid-June. After that, we have an occasional severe storm but usually wind and hail only.
The Storm Prediction Center doesn’t highlight much for us over the next several days. However, the AI models indicate at least some activity but on the low probability side of things. The Analog events do highlight Wednesday and Thursday as seeing a few severe weather reports clustered across the western half of Oklahoma. Finally, the long-range predictive models seem to think that the week after next will be active across Oklahoma.

We do have a weak upper-low moving through Sunday night and Monday. That will trigger additional showers and weak storms. Tuesday we clear out then another round late Wednesday and Thursday as a couple of weak upper lows move through midweek. There is some decent instability and shear present for Wednesday. No signs yet for Thursday though. Regardless that rain will move out so a nice day Friday and Saturday before the next upper wave moves through on Sunday to provide a few severe storms.

Temperatures look fairly decent this week. Humidty-wise, the best days are Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday for low values. Enjoy the week! -AT
