A Break in the Heat with Some Rain This Week
I hope your summer is going great and sorry for my absence the past couple of weeks. I needed a break from the weather with the holidays and other things that keep me sane. The good news is that we did receive quite a bit of good rainfall over the past week. The upcoming week won’t have as much rain, but at least we won’t see a return to extreme heat as we get close to rounding out July.
Take a look at the rainfall totals over the past 7 days and how our current drought situation looks across Oklahoma. Not bad for mid-July.
The Jetstream pattern indicates an upper high across the west and a trough across the NE. This troughiness will back-build SSW into Texas and keeps things slightly unsettled across the region. This pattern also helps to keep us a little cooler as well.
We’re going to have rain somewhere across the state just about every day, but most of us will stay dry. This is that afternoon and early evening isolated shower or weak storm activity that can occur in July. Also known as few and far between. I’ve posted each day to give you an idea of the location of where most of the rain should occur on each of those days. I’ve also included the total amounts that are expected by Sunday. The wettest day may be Sunday in this pattern.
Temperatures will be pretty decent. The weak front over the weekend will wash out and we’ll see a slow increase in temperatures but we might squeeze through most days in the upper 80 to low 90s for everyone. Enjoy your week! -AT
