Upper Ridge Dominates This Week with Little Rain
The upper high will transition from the New Mexico region over Oklahoma for the remainder of this week. As it shifts east, there will be a few weak disturbances rotating on the east side to bring a little rain. Temperatures thanks to a weak front won’t be as hot as last week.
The Jetstream shows the ridge parked overhead by Friday. This is usually a dry pattern but sometimes you can squeeze out some isolated activity.
Isolated showers look to occur early Wednesday and Thursday morning across eastern Oklahoma. The signal is very weak however. The GFS wants to reintroduce a little more activity on Friday and Sunday. Ironically this is when the upper high is parked overhead, so I’m doubtful this will occur. The sinking air directly underneath the column and lack of air movement typically negates any weak rising motion from the ground level.
At least temperatures won’t be as hot as last week with more 90s than 100s showing up over the next several days. Long-term, we may get more of a cool down later next week. -AT
