Beautiful Fall Weather, Possible Hurricane, and Weekend Rain

If you don’t know, I love this time of year, and not because it’s The State Fair. We get some of our best mornings and evenings during September and October! We still get our warm days but the extreme heat is over and typically drier air dominates, so lower humidities. This week we’ll keep that trend going, then focus on a little rain and a possible hurricane.
Our low temperatures Sunday morning were actually a little chilly in the east. But they do warm up fast as the sun pops up over the horizon. This week they won’t be that cool, but still pleasant.

In the Gulf, a tropical disturbance is forming into a strong storm this week as it hugs the Texas coastline. By late Wednesday it should move onshore in SW LA. It’s possible it could strengthen into a CAT 1 hurricane, but for now, models keep it just shy. That storm will work north and provide enough moisture to trigger a few showers across far E OK on Thursday.

The Jetstream does show that tropical storm in the output but it also shows our pattern shifting to a W/SW flow aloft by the weekend. This should allow at least a few showers or storms to develop Saturday and Sunday. At this time it doesn’t appear to be widespread nor anything that would cause you to cancel plans.

Here is a look at one of the models for rainfall this weekend to give you an idea. We do need the rain in the Fall as the drought creeps in during this transition from late Summer.
