🚨July 4th Update: Storms wreck Fireworks this evening!!! 🚨 This is extremely lame. The rain signal for Sunday got bumped up 18 hours for this evening and overnight. A complex of storms will develop across N OK after 5pm, forming a line by 8pm and moving S/SE. They will affect all of NE OK (yes Tulsa area), and the tail end should move into the OKC metro area between 9-10pm. Storms will continue overnight and taper off in the morning. There are a couple of models that keep the storms just north of OKC, passing by to the east, and then redeveloping around midnight along the outflow boundary. This would allow all of SW and S OK to remain dry until well after midnight. Otherwise, expect the storms to continue traveling south late in the evening. Because temperatures will approach 100 degrees today in many areas with a very dry adiabatic lapse rate profile, excessive damaging wind is the main threat. Some models indicate over 100 mph with the evening storms. Make sure you have a safe place to seek shelter during your evening festivities and a way to protect outdoor items. Use my weather app, ATsWeatherToGo, to track the storms and estimated time of arrival. HAVE A PLAN B!!! -AT
