More Rain Ahead and Tornado Season Update
More scattered showers with weak storm activity will be around this week. We’ve passed the peak of tornado season without a single tornado in May.
Before we jump to the forecast, I just wanted to point out that no tornadoes occurred in May. This happened only one other time in 2005. The peak of our season was mid-May, and now we’re on the downhill slide. We did see our fair share of tornadoes through April, with a count of 47, which puts us about average for this time of year, with a total of 53 in any given year. The tornado count for the country is also running near normal.

The SPC Outlook for the next several days is pretty quiet!

So for the remainder of this week, a weak upper low moves slowly across the region. This creates daily (and nightly at times) scattered showers and weak storm activity. This pattern will continue to be weakly unsettled through Saturday, but it’s not a washout, plenty of dry hours, and it won’t rain at the same location every day either.

Rainfall amounts on the conservative model blend are fairly decent for the week. There will always be isolated areas with double the amounts shown.

Temperatures will be decent as well, but humidity will be noticeable. Enjoy your short work week! -AT
