Mostly Dry and Above Normal This Week
As I mentioned in last week’s blog, we are in our Fall Severe Weather Season, which runs through about the first week of November. We had a few reports of hail and wind last Monday/Tuesday, but no tornadoes. This week it will be quiet until Saturday when the next system comes across.
We have two disturbances in the Jetstream that will move through. One early Tuesday and the other late Saturday. I’ve included the forecast sounding for each event below. In the first, you can see how much dry air is present (the distance between the red/green lines) compared to the Saturday event, where those lines are closer together, indicating better moisture all around. So with the first event, most of the lift will be spent trying to moisten up the atmosphere, creating cloud cover, and at most, a sprinkle or two.

The Saturday event should cause some decent rain as long as the track stays the same. If it shifts north, then the rain amounts below drop off considerably.

Temperatures will be running above normal across most of the country this week as well. Severe weather will be hard to come by.

Temperatures here in OKC will be a representation of that big picture. Enjoy! -AT
