The big story over the next few days will be record breaking heat hitting SW OK into W/NW TX. A few days of 100+ degrees!
We’ll start off the heat on Friday and see a few isolated thunderstorms out in W OK as a result by late day.
Saturday will be hot as well across the west and a little cooler across the east. I-35 appears to be the dividing line of airmasses over this period. You don’t want to be west of it!
Sunday has an interesting outcome. We’ll have a weak cold front move in very early in the day and bring clouds and a few sprinkles or drizzle with it. Latest data indicates that cloud cover may not mix out, trapped under an inversion. That would lead to a much cooler day into the 60s! If those clouds clear out though, back in the mid 70s. I’ve posted each outcome. At this writing, it’s tough to say, so let’s go cooler!
Then that brief cooldown turns back into massive heat on Monday. Yikes! The hottest day of the stretch! But don’t worry, relief is on the way for the rest of the week with temperatures becoming more reasonable.
What about severe weather you ask? Doesn’t appear to be any significant signals showing up in the short term window. Long-term, there may be two potential days around the 9th and 15th. But overall, our severe weather season is a dud! Yay!
